Documented conversion

Percentage of Marks = CGPA × 10. The reverse calculation is CGPA = Percentage ÷ 10.

The ×10 rule is explicitly published in the R2021 affiliated B.E./B.Tech. amended grade-sheet clause and in Anna University's University Departments circular for R2015, R2018 and R2019. R2025 affiliated regulations also use the same CGPA framework; use the exact rule for your own programme if you are under another regulation.

Conversion formula

Percentage of Marks = CGPA × 10. Reverse conversion: CGPA = Percentage ÷ 10.

Use the final CGPA printed by the university. This page is an estimate unless the receiving institution accepts the cited conversion rule.

What is counted

  • The official final CGPA after the applicable Anna University course and credit rules.
  • The university conversion certificate or circular required by the application.

What is excluded

  • Semester GPA used as if it were final CGPA.
  • A CGPA from an autonomous college, another regulation or another university without checking its own conversion document.

Worked example

A final CGPA of 8.40 converts to 84.00%. A stated percentage of 76.50% converts back to 7.65 CGPA.

Common mistakes

  • Using the common 9.5 multiplier instead of Anna University’s cited ×10 rule.
  • Rounding the CGPA too early or applying this formula to a semester GPA.
