MAKAUT CGPA Calculator

Calculate credit-weighted CGPA, or use the DGPA calculator below.

Your CGPA

Add each semester’s SGPA and credits.

Semesters

Enter each semester’s total credits. MAKAUT’s printed CGPA formula uses semester credit index divided by semester credits across the programme.

Final DGPA

Your DGPA

Enter the YGPA values printed on your grade card.

For YGPA, MAKAUT combines the odd/even semester credit indices and credits. Do not use a plain average when semester credit totals differ.

CGPA, YGPA and DGPA

CGPA = total credit index across semesters ÷ total credits. MAKAUT grade cards also use YGPA for an academic year and DGPA for the final degree calculation.

For the published four-year DGPA pattern: (YGPA1 + YGPA2 + 1.5×YGPA3 + 1.5×YGPA4) ÷ 5. Lateral-entry, three-year, two-year and one-year formulas are available in the selector instead of being incorrectly forced into the four-year formula.

Regulation scope

For programmes whose MAKAUT grade card uses the O, E, A, B, C, D, F, I scale and SGPA, YGPA, DGPA and CGPA model. NEP 2020 programmes, autonomous colleges and programme-specific rules can differ.

CGPA and DGPA formulas

Course index = Σ(Credit × Grade Point) ÷ Σ(Credits). Four-year DGPA = (Y1 + Y2 + 1.5Y3 + 1.5Y4) ÷ 5. Lateral DGPA = (Y2 + 1.5Y3 + 1.5Y4) ÷ 4.

The calculator also supports the published three-year, two-year and one-year patterns. F and I use 2 points in the printed grade-card model.

What is counted

  • Credit-bearing courses and the grade points printed on the MAKAUT record.
  • The correct YGPA or DGPA pattern for the programme length and entry route.

What is excluded

  • Non-credit or programme-specific excluded courses.
  • A four-year DGPA pattern applied to a lateral entry or shorter programme.

Worked example

For 4 credits at A, 3 at C and 2 at F, the course index is (32 + 18 + 4) ÷ 9 = 6.00. With Y1 7.2, Y2 7.8, Y3 8.1 and Y4 8.4, four-year DGPA = 7.95.

Common mistakes

  • Using F = 0 instead of the grade-card model’s F = 2.
  • Averaging yearly indices plainly or using the wrong DGPA pattern for lateral entry.
