Anna University CGPA planning
Anna University Target CGPA Calculator
See the GPA needed next semester to reach a target cumulative CGPA.
Fill all four fields.
How the target is calculated
Required next GPA = [Target CGPA × (completed credits + next credits) − current CGPA × completed credits] ÷ next credits.
This is algebra derived from Anna University's official credit-weighted CGPA formula; it is a planning calculation, not a separate university rule. If the required GPA is above 10, the target cannot be reached in one semester with the credits entered.
Academic basis: R2025 GPA/CGPA formula · R2021 GPA/CGPA formula.

Regulation scope
This is planning arithmetic for the same affiliated non-autonomous R2025 and R2021 credit rules. It does not replace a regulation check for University Departments or an autonomous college.
Required next GPA
Required GPA = [Target CGPA × (Completed credits + Next credits) − Current CGPA × Completed credits] ÷ Next credits.
Enter only credits that will count in the next cumulative calculation. The result is a planning threshold, not an official grade prediction.
What is counted
- Current CGPA and completed credits from the official record.
- Next semester credits that belong to counted Anna University courses.
What is excluded
- Non-credit courses and status grades such as U, SA, WC, RA, WD or W.
- Credits from a different regulation or an autonomous college scheme.
Worked example
With current CGPA 7.80 over 40 credits, a target of 8.20 after 20 more credits needs (8.20 × 60 − 7.80 × 40) ÷ 20 = 9.00 GPA.
Common mistakes
- Entering total registered credits instead of counted completed and next credits.
- Treating a result above 10 as achievable. It means the target cannot be reached in one semester.
