Which credits should I enter?
Use credits that actually count toward programme GPA/CGPA. Pass/fail, audit, Minor and Honours courses are excluded; Version 5.0 also excludes Second Major courses.
Why is the required GPA rounded upward?
VIT reports GPA and CGPA by rounding upward to two decimal places. The planner also rounds the required next-semester GPA upward to two decimals so the displayed goal is conservative.

Frequently asked questions
How is the required next-semester GPA calculated?
The planner solves Σ(Credits × Grade Point) ÷ Σ(Credits) for the missing term: it takes your current CGPA and completed credits, your target CGPA, and your next semester's credits, then works out the GPA you need this term to reach that target.
What if the required GPA is above 10?
That means the target is mathematically out of reach in one semester on the credits you entered — no achievable GPA under VIT's scale reaches it. Spread the target over more semesters or lower it.
Does this planner account for VIT's rounding rule?
Yes. The required GPA is rounded upward, so the goal shown is never understated, matching how the credit-weighted formula from FFCS Academic Regulations Version 5.0 behaves.

Required next GPA
Required GPA = [Target CGPA × (Completed credits + Next credits) − Current CGPA × Completed credits] ÷ Next credits.
VIT’s upward two-decimal reporting means you should aim at or above the displayed requirement and confirm the official transcript result.
What is counted
- Current CGPA and completed programme credits that VIT includes.
- Next semester credits from counted programme courses.
What is excluded
- P, U, W, audit, Minor and Honours credits.
- Second Major credits under Version 5.0 and credits from a separate VIT university.
Worked example
With current CGPA 8.20 over 80 credits, target 8.40 after 20 counted credits needs (8.40 × 100 − 8.20 × 80) ÷ 20 = 9.20 GPA.

- Entering every registered credit instead of only credits that feed the programme CGPA.
- Reading a required value above 10 as a valid semester target.
