R25 theory internal marks

R25 theory CIE is 40 marks: 30 from the mid-term component, 5 from assignments and 5 from Viva-Voce/PPT/Poster Presentation/Case Study. Two 30-mark mids are normally averaged. If the optional 30-mark CBT is taken, the best two scores among Mid 1, Mid 2 and CBT are averaged.

R22: the same 30 + 5 + 5 theory CIE structure is used, but there is no CBT and at least 14/40 CIE is required. This calculator is intentionally scoped to theory courses; labs, drawing, projects and internships have different evaluation structures.

Regulation scope

For theory CIE in JNTUH B.Tech. R25 and R22 non-autonomous colleges. R25 permits an optional 30-mark CBT in the mid-term set. R22 has no CBT option in the cited regulation.

Internal marks formula

CIE = Average of the two selected mid-term marks + Average of two assignment marks + 5-mark activity component, out of 40.

R25 selects the best two from Mid 1, Mid 2 and CBT before averaging. R22 averages Mid 1 and Mid 2 only. The course and college instructions define the activity component.

What is counted

  • The selected mid-term marks, assignments and the 5-mark viva, presentation or activity component.
  • The regulation-specific maximum of 40 CIE marks.

What is excluded

  • SEE marks, which are separate from CIE.
  • CBT in R22, and laboratory, project or internship assessment components that use another scheme.

Worked example

R25 with mid marks 24 and 18, CBT 27, assignments 4 and 5, and activity 4 gives average best mids 25.5 + assignment average 4.5 + 4 = 34.00/40. R22 with no CBT would give 21 + 4.5 + 4 = 29.50/40.

Common mistakes

  • Averaging all three R25 mid-term entries instead of selecting the best two.
  • Adding CBT to an R22 calculation or treating CIE as the final course mark.
