Courses

JNTUH reports SGPA after every course in the semester is cleared. The result is credit-weighted and rounded to two decimals.

JNTUH SGPA formula

SGPA = Σ(Credits × Grade Point) ÷ Σ(Credits). R25 uses O=10, A+=9, A=8, B+=7, B=6 and C=5; F/Ab are failed grades.

R25 states that SGPA is calculated only after all courses offered in the semester are cleared. R22 likewise reports SGPA after the semester subjects are passed.

Regulation scope

For JNTUH B.Tech. R25 and R22 non-autonomous regulation families. JNTUH reports SGPA after the semester courses are cleared, while autonomous colleges can use a different result process.

SGPA formula

SGPA = Σ(Credit × Grade Point) ÷ Σ(Credits), rounded to two decimal places.

Use the grade table for the selected regulation. A pending or failed course can affect whether an official SGPA is issued even when you are estimating the arithmetic.

What is counted

  • Credit-bearing semester courses in the official B.Tech. course structure.
  • The R25 or R22 grade points printed on the result.

What is excluded

  • Mandatory non-credit courses.
  • Minor and Honours credits when calculating the required degree CGPA, and any autonomous-college-only entries.

Worked example

A 4-credit A gives 32 points, a 3-credit B+ gives 21 and a 3-credit C gives 15. SGPA = 68 ÷ 10 = 6.80.

Common mistakes

  • Counting a non-credit course in the denominator.
  • Assuming a calculated number is an official SGPA when the semester still has uncleared courses.
