Absolute or relative grading?
KL University’s published academic framework allows either absolute or relative grading. Relative grading is used only when the course section meets the university threshold and the chosen method is specified in the course handout. The grade-point mapping stays O=10, A+=9, A=8, B+=7, B=6, C=5, P=4 and F=0.

What is the highest grade point at KLU?
O carries 10 grade points (Outstanding · 90–100 (absolute)), the maximum on KLU's published scale in KL published academic grading framework.
Do failing or incomplete grades count in the CGPA?
Grades with a defined point value of 0 are counted and pull the average down. Grades with no defined point value at all — see the exclusions listed above — are left out of the calculation entirely rather than treated as zero.

Regulation scope
For the published KLEF B.Tech. framework. The absolute ranges below are the handbook’s published bands, but a course handout can specify relative grading where its section meets the university’s conditions.
Marks to grade
For an absolute course, locate the final mark in the published band and use its grade point. Relative courses use the awarded course grade instead.
F and AB carry zero points. Audit, certificate and non-credit courses are not numeric grade entries in SGPA or CGPA.
What is counted
- The final course grade and credit from the official record.
- O through P grade points for credit-bearing courses.
What is excluded
- Audit, certificate and non-credit entries.
- A fixed marks band applied to a course whose handout specifies relative grading.
Worked example
A final absolute mark of 64 falls in B+ and gives 7 points. In a relative-grading course, 64 alone is not enough to determine the letter grade.
Common mistakes
- Assuming the absolute table applies to every KLEF course.
- Giving F or AB a positive point, or turning an audit result into a numeric grade.
