Credit-weighted target planning
The calculator solves KL University's published credit-weighted CGPA equation for the next semester.
Formula basis: KL University B.Tech Student Handbook.
Frequently asked questions
How is the required next-semester SGPA calculated?
The planner solves Σ(Credits × Grade Point) ÷ Σ(Credits) for the missing term: it takes your current CGPA and completed credits, your target CGPA, and your next semester's credits, then works out the SGPA you need this term to reach that target.
What if the required SGPA is above 10?
That means the target is mathematically out of reach in one semester on the credits you entered — no achievable SGPA under KLU's scale reaches it. Spread the target over more semesters or lower it.
Does this planner account for KLU's rounding rule?
Yes. The required SGPA is rounded to the nearest value, matching how the credit-weighted formula from KL published academic grading framework behaves.

Regulation scope
This planner uses the published KLEF credit-weighted framework. Confirm the counted credits in your current programme handbook because the public B.Tech. handbook does not state one universal admission batch.
Required next SGPA
Required SGPA = [Target CGPA × (Completed credits + Next credits) − Current CGPA × Completed credits] ÷ Next credits.
Use only credit-bearing next semester courses. The result is a target for planning, not an official prediction of a relative grade outcome.
What is counted
- Current CGPA and its counted credits.
- Next semester credits that the programme includes in CGPA.
What is excluded
- Audit, certificate and non-credit courses.
- Credits from a different KLEF programme or handbook.
Worked example
With current CGPA 7.20 over 40 credits, target 7.60 after 20 counted credits needs (7.60 × 60 − 7.20 × 40) ÷ 20 = 8.40 SGPA.
Common mistakes
- Using all registered credits instead of counted credits.
- Treating the calculated requirement as a guaranteed mark-to-grade result when the course uses relative grading.
Based on KL published academic grading framework

KLU campus and grading coverage
The credit-weighted SGPA/CGPA method and published conversion are supported across KLEF programmes that use the cited framework. Relative grading and internal assessment components can vary by course, programme and handbook, so the weighted-marks tool remains editable.
