SRM first normalizes internal and end-semester marks before awarding the final grade. Use the normalized total shown by the university for an official match; raw component marks can only give an estimate.

What is the highest grade point at SRM?
O carries 10 grade points (Outstanding · 91–100), the maximum on SRM's published scale in B.Tech/M.Tech (Integrated) Regulations 2021.
Do failing or incomplete grades count in the CGPA?
Grades with a defined point value of 0 are counted and pull the average down. Grades with no defined point value at all — see the exclusions listed above — are left out of the calculation entirely rather than treated as zero.

Regulation scope
For SRMIST B.Tech. and M.Tech. Integrated 2021 regulation courses. SRM normalizes assessment marks before the final grade, and separate SRM universities can use other tables.
Normalized mark to grade
Use the normalized final mark, then apply O = 10 through C = 5. F, Ab and I receive 0 points.
The mark shown by an intermediate component calculator is not necessarily the normalized final mark used by the Controller of Examinations.
What is counted
- The normalized final course mark and official letter grade.
- The course credit and the grade point from the SRMIST 2021 table.
What is excluded
- Mandatory non-credit courses.
- Raw CLA, final or lab marks before normalization.
Worked example
A normalized mark of 84 falls in A+ and gives 9 points. If the raw components add to 84 before normalization, that does not by itself guarantee the same official grade.
Common mistakes
- Applying the grade table to raw component totals.
- Treating an I attendance or incomplete status as a normal marks band.
