Frequently asked questions
How is the required next-semester SGPA calculated?
The planner solves Σ(Credits × Grade Point) ÷ Σ(Credits) for the missing term: it takes your current CGPA and completed credits, your target CGPA, and your next semester's credits, then works out the SGPA you need this term to reach that target.
What if the required SGPA is above 10?
That means the target is mathematically out of reach in one semester on the credits you entered — no achievable SGPA under SRM's scale reaches it. Spread the target over more semesters or lower it.
Does this planner account for SRM's rounding rule?
Yes. The required SGPA is rounded to the nearest value, matching how the credit-weighted formula from B.Tech/M.Tech (Integrated) Regulations 2021 behaves.

Regulation scope
For SRMIST B.Tech. and M.Tech. Integrated planning under the 2021 regulation. Separate SRM universities use their own credit and grading rules.
Required next SGPA
Required SGPA = [Target CGPA × (Completed credits + Next credits) − Current CGPA × Completed credits] ÷ Next credits.
Use only SRMIST credit-bearing next semester courses. This result assumes the displayed current CGPA is the official cumulative value.
What is counted
- Current CGPA and completed SRMIST credits.
- Next semester credits that contribute to the programme CGPA.
What is excluded
- Mandatory non-credit courses.
- Credits from SRM University-AP, Delhi-NCR, Sikkim or another programme.
Worked example
With current CGPA 7.80 over 60 credits, target 8.10 after 20 counted credits needs (8.10 × 80 − 7.80 × 60) ÷ 20 = 9.00 SGPA.
Common mistakes
- Using total enrolled credits instead of counted credits.
- Treating a requirement above 10 as achievable in one semester.

SRM campus and grading coverage
The current calculators implement the cited SRMIST B.Tech/M.Tech (Integrated) 2021 regulation. They cover SRMIST campuses where that programme and batch regulation applies. Students at SRM-AP, SRM Haryana or SRM Sikkim must use their own university regulation and can edit weighted components when the published scheme differs.
