University rule guide
SRM GPA and CGPA calculator guide
The current calculators implement the cited SRMIST B.Tech/M.Tech (Integrated) 2021 regulation. They cover SRMIST campuses where that programme and batch regulation applies. Students at SRM-AP, SRM Haryana or SRM Sikkim must use their own university regulation and can edit weighted components when the published scheme differs.
Programmes and regulations covered
Kattankulathur, Ramapuram, Vadapalani, Tiruchirappalli, Delhi NCR–Modinagar, and Baburayanpettai. The calculator scope is set by programme and regulation, not by the university name alone.
B.Tech/M.Tech (Integrated) Regulations 2021
Scope: B.Tech 2022 batch onward
Current engineering regulation verified against the SRM Controller of Examinations conversion certificate.
B.Tech Regulations 2018
Scope: 2018 through 2021 batches
Legacy regulation. The current SRM tools default to 2021 because present B.Tech cohorts are governed by the 2021 regulation.
Campus and college scope
Exact SGPA and CGPA formula
Σ(Credits × Grade Point) ÷ Σ(Credits)
Multiply each included course’s credits by its grade point. Add the weighted points, add the included credits, then divide. For CGPA, use all counted courses across the semesters covered by your university record. A simple average of semester results is correct only when the counted credits match.
Included and excluded subjects
Included in the preset
Courses with the published grade points below are included when they carry counted credits.
- O: Outstanding · 91–100
- A+: Excellent · 81–90
- A: Very Good · 71–80
- B+: Good · 61–70
- B: Above Average · 56–60
- C: Average · 50–55
- F: Fail · below 50
- Ab: Absent
Excluded or needs checking
- NC and other non-credit courses.
- Courses excluded by the applicable programme regulation.
A status can affect progression even when it does not enter CGPA. Check the regulation before removing a failed, repeated, withdrawn, audit or non-credit course.
Published grading table
The table below is the grade preset attached to this university record. Confirm the programme and regulation scope before using it for a formal application.

| B | 6 | Above Average · 56–60 | Yes |
| C | 5 | Average · 50–55 | Yes |
| F | 0 | Fail · below 50 | Yes |
| Ab | 0 | Absent | Yes |
| I | 0 | Incomplete · insufficient attendance | Yes |
| NC | Not counted | Calculator option for non-credit course | No |
CGPA to percentage conversion
CGPA × 10. Use this only for the programme and regulation covered by the source record.
Conversion rules are not interchangeable. A formula from another university, batch or unofficial website does not replace the source linked below.
Open the SRM conversion calculatorTarget CGPA for the next semester
To plan a target, use your current CGPA, completed counted credits, target CGPA and expected next semester credits. The required next SGPA is:
[Target CGPA × (completed credits + next credits) − current CGPA × completed credits] ÷ next credits
This record uses nearest rounding for the displayed target result. Keep the unrounded value while planning and exclude courses that the regulation does not count.
Open the SRM target CGPA calculatorWorked example
Suppose three included courses carry 4, 3 and 2 credits with grade points 8, 9 and 7. The weighted points are 32, 27 and 14. Their total is 73 and the counted credits total 9, so the semester result is 73 ÷ 9 = 8.11 when displayed to two decimals.
This is an illustration, not an official SRM transcript calculation. Replace the example values with the course credits and grade points that your regulation counts.
Common input mistakes
- Choosing a regulation because it gives a better result instead of matching your batch and programme.
- Entering marks where the calculator expects a grade point, or using the wrong university grade table.
- Including audit, pass/fail, withdrawal, exemption or non-credit entries without checking the source clause.
- Taking a simple average of semester SGPAs when the semesters have different counted credits.
- Rounding each intermediate value before the final division or conversion.

SRM calculator FAQ
Which SRM students does this guide cover?
SRMIST engineering cohorts governed by the 2021 regulation. Separate SRM universities publish their own rules. Check your programme, batch and campus before treating the result as an official value.
What formula does the SRM calculator use?
Σ(Credits × Grade Point) ÷ Σ(Credits). Only courses included by the applicable regulation should enter the weighted total.
How does SRM handle excluded subjects?
NC and other non-credit courses. Courses excluded by the applicable programme regulation.
Where can I verify the SRM rule?
Use SRM B.Tech/M.Tech (Integrated) Regulations 2021, version B.Tech/M.Tech (Integrated) Regulations 2021. The source locator is R4.5 to R4.6 and R8.1 to R8.7.
